Real-Time End-to-End Encryption with Curve25519 & AES-GCM

e2eesecurity

Cryptographic Foundation

CrypterChat integrates Curve25519 for ephemeral key exchange and AES-256-GCM for authenticated payload encryption. Each individual chat session operates a continuous double ratchet algorithm, guaranteeing future secrecy and break-in recovery.

Zero-Knowledge Relays

Relay servers act as blind routers. When a message is sent:

  1. The client device encrypts the message payload locally using the session ratchet.
  2. The client wraps the ciphertext in an ephemeral transport envelope.
  3. The relay routes the envelope to the recipient's push token or active WebSocket stream.
  4. Once received, the server record is purged immediately.

Forward secrecy unit tests pass across all mobile targets (iOS Keystore & Android EncryptedSharedPreferences).
